Nidar’s Classes at GNNSJ Leeds

The Shastervidiya team were very surprised to see that 3 weeks ago Nidar started advertising Shastervidiya classes on his website at GNNSJ Leeds a gurdwara of the Guru Nanak Nishkam Sevak Jatha in Birmingham.

ScreenClip [1]

We have very good and close links with GNNSJ and rang up the jathedar of the Leeds Gurdwara, Mr Harbans Sagoo. When informed that Nidar had setup classes at his Gurdwara he said that the boy teaching was nothing to do with Nidar Singh and he had been vetted by local individuals. On hearing that the class was being advertised on Nidars website he was shocked and promised us to look into the matter. He has requested them to remove the name of the gurdwara from Nidar’s website which still has not been done 3 weeks later.

We know now that  the class was being run by one of Nidars main students who calls himself “Machi”, real name Gurbinder Singh, an optician from Birmingham.

We think this is a new tactic being employed by Nidar where they approach far-flung temples and setup classes without mentioning Nidars name.

The GNNSJ sangat in Birmingham are well aware of Nidar and they are discussing how to deal with the matter in Leeds. I think that Nidar should just stick to his community centres and steer clear of places of worship, as it is clear from his groups behaviour that they are not interested in mixing their martial training with worship.

Also their views are clearly against the mainstream Sikh Sangat in a Big way, he actually makes this statement himself many times on his websites.

“This website by its nature has caused an uproar amongst the narrow minded mainstream Sikhs who are angered due to the vast amount of scriptural and historical facts presented here”

“Many modern mainstream Sikhs, such as those pictured, today practice ‘Kirtan’
that may be termed ‘Pakhand’ (false/fake)”

“Much to the dismay of many, the website will also make evident that today’s mainstream Sikh institutions are but products of late 19th Century, British-Raj nurtured puritanical thought, and, not true to the original teachings of the Gurus as they wrongly claim.”

“One may also state for certain that if Jarnail Singh had not caught the imagination of the historically ignorant and gullible Sikh populace with this falsified history of Samparda Chowk Mehta, then the movement he inspired would not have taken off.”

“Sadly, the vast majority of so-called ‘Sikhs’, never mind non-Sikhs, are completely unaware of these questions despite the fact that ‘translations’ of Akal Ustat are widely available in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, and in English. Even from those Sikhs who claim to have read Akal Ustat, all seemed to have over looked these questions. This sounds astonishing, but not entirely surprising considering the great level of ignorance prevalent in so many so-called Sikhs of today.

So if he thinks mainstream Sikhs are ignorant and our institutions are puritanical christian, then why is he going out of his way to set up classes in the very same institutions and teaching the very people he clearly hates ?

Nidar’s students now teaching his classes

the shastervidiya cult has resorted to keeping Nidar out of the way undercover and he has put his students in front and they are now teaching the classes in shephards bush and leeds GNNSJ Gurdwara. This is probably due to the bad publicity and his name being blacklisted at most places.

which is progress I guess, as in 15 years he has produced no teachers of any note….. and he doesnt have copyright over shastarvidiya.

We dont beleive in pursuing them beyond the Gurdwaras, and i think that Nidar’s nature has become apparent, ducking and diving, blatantly lying, hiding and calling the police at any sign of an open discussion.

It is also interesting to note that since the last few years where dasam granth is being attacked by fake professors, has Nidar or any of students taken a stand or stepped up or put their weapons forward to protect the sanctity of Dasam Granth Beer Rass Bani, while the rest of us our blood boiling to hear anyone do nindiya of Guru Gobind Singh jis bani. One of Nidar’s cheley from london even defending dhunda’s right to do parchaar.

it is interesting to note in the video of jeownwala of canada when he has a discussion with the tapoban (AKJ Singhs), yes the AKJ “RESPECT TO THEM” are the ones fronting the defense of Dasam Granth, Jeownwala uses the same terminology used by Nidar – (the interpretation of Mahakaal as Shiva, etc)

these same people are trying to destroy Amrit which Guru Gobind Singh ji himself took by casting doubt on amrit sanchar banis, therefore destroying our entire last 300 years of Sikhi.

The biggest indicator for me that there is something wrong with Nidars leadership is that when teaching in Wolverhampton none of his students used to go and matha tek, instead they claimed they were worshiping their shastars and matha tek’d to them, as if there could be any substitute, without Guru Granth Sahib ji our weapons mean nothing, what do we defend?

the most shocking thing that i have found is that Nidar and his students claim immunity from the rules and regulations that we all hold sacred because apparently they are “KASHATRIYAS” (Ancient Warriors), therefore not subject to the same constraints and rules as everyone else, hence the “everything goes – mauja maro” attitude.

the problem I have with this is, they are kashatriyas of which army? and fighting which battle?, while living in your central heated houses with kfc buckets and hot water baths, what sangarsh, what struggle, what do you stand for? where is the line? like baba deep singh jis line , what are you prepared to do to help Sikhi, fight off the panth dokhis…….. where are these kashatriyas when they are needed?

well they are too busy kissing the namdhari behind, so they don’t get kicked out from coventry road Namdhari building, calling the namdhari leader “SATGURU” and therefore belittling Sat Guru Granth Sahib Ji the True Satguru that sits on the throne of Guru Nanak’s Khalsa.

The truth is that Nidars students don’t give a crap about anything, they don’t believe in the Sikh Human rights struggle, they don’t believe that Sikhs in India are discriminated against, they are not prepared to fight for nothing , so what is the point of a warrior who believes in nothing, who fights for nothing, Nidar openly mocks our freedom fighters and shaheeds what use are his weapons? what use is his shastervidiya if he takes away your belief and your Sikhi? and they don’t even believe in fighting.

the few people who stood up against the regime of their time during the last 40 years, just as Guru Gobind Singh ji had done, and this one lone lost warrior NIdar emerges critisicing the ones who made sacrifices and claims himself the last Sikh warrior – what a joke! warriors are judged on their performance in battle and sacrifices made not how quick they can dial police and make a complaint.

once when talking to them(Nidars Students) they said oh we don’t care about all that stuff, we only care about the martial art, well I said that is the problem because I care about SIKHI.

Nidar calls the police

two weeks ago Nidar called the CTU (Counter terrorism Unit) on me,

I spoke to them and explained that I worked on the Sikh Cyber Museum in 2003 as a curator and Project co-ordinator and also used to work for Birmingham Museums as a Web Researcher so i have a personal interest in Anglo-Sikh History. I have been involved in many Interfaith seminars and have good links with many different sections of the community.

I have only written articles online and proven my points using scripture and reasoning providing evidence and quotes were relevant. I haven’t incited any hatred or violence, in fact it is Nidars students who keep challenging me to attend their class and have a battle with him – I referenced Nidar’s Hadh Torr Challenge as proof, and the many threatening emails and messages from Nidar’s students I had received online.

I provided them with various letters and articles relating to Nidar. Also highlighting where I have made it very clear on the website and forums – that this is not a violent movement but one of a group of parents who are concerned for the kids who will eventually go to his classes, and be brainwashed with his ideology.

They asked me about the forged letter – and I said the letter was signed by the individuals listed, they are well known jathedars not hard to get hold of you could get a Punjabi translator to ring them and ask them all individually to verify (on a side note when at Guru Tegh Bahadur last Thursday, I asked Nidar’s students if they had verified the letter is fake, their only response was “Gurdev had spoken to people”  I said but haven’t any of you thought to investigate yourself and find out, I said don’t believe me or him check for yourselves)

I continued to tell of my surprise that Nidar would stoop to such a low level or feel so threatened and shook up by a small guy like me and a simple website that he would call the CTU on me.
Again Nidar would call us the British influenced firenghi Sikhs, yet he is the first one to run under their protection.

Are these the actions of the “Last Sikh Warrior” ?

We also learned from Nidars students last thursday that one of Nidar’s students called “Machhi” has ridiculously been claiming that his car was shot at ….. I was like WHAT?
I have kept quiet about this as I didn’t want things to get out of hand but I think time has come to talk about all these nasty tactics used by Nidar to undermine anyone who opposes him. I know Nidar and his boys definitely talked to the CTU as the officer mentioned some things that Nidar said to him.

I laughed with the officer saying look at me, do I look like a threat  – I don’t need to threaten anyone or use violence we are beating Nidar with just mere words and articles  – why would I want to jeopardise all the research and effort put in by all the Singhs to make the sangat aware of this fake guru and spoil it all.

The officer was very understanding and could see how Nidar was trying to play the fanatic/terrorist card to undermine my research. I’m glad the British police system is understanding and I understand the officers were just doing their job and they did it profesionally without causing anyone any distress. Well done to them.

then I got thinking and thought what if we would have been in India, if a Singh would be reported just because a malicious person wanted to get back at them and acuused them of beign a terrorist, would the Punjab Police listen to them or give them a chance, or owudl it be beat first and question later, I think the outcome would woudl have been really different.

I for one am glad I live in England a free country where people can openly and freely discuss and air their views in a professional and respectable manner without being “shut-up” or “scared off” by nefarious elements or religious extremists using the government or corrupt police to protect them from being opposed.

Breakdown of Nidar’s last real fight.

Following is a detailed breakdown of Nidars last real battle in 1998 against Uptej Singh. This was originally posted on Sikh Sangat forum and we believe it is worthy of posting on the website.

It is interesting to note that at the end of the video once the fight is broken up Nidar reacts quite badly and is clearly quite unhappy with the outcome and his own failure to completely dominate the opponent.

Despite Uptej Singh giving Nidar a decent competitive performance worthy of respect, Nidar continued to insult Uptej Singh by calling him a “fool” and of “lowly character”, further proving his egotistical nature and lack of respect for other Martial Arts and Martial Artists. The offensive comments can be seen on the following website

Sanatan Hindu Sikh Shastar Vidiya Gurdev Nihang Niddar Singh Nihang encountered one such fool who he indulged in a non-‘Chatka Gatka’ setting in 1998.
Nidar –

Later that day, this lowly character took his boasts further and proclaimed an outright victory over Niddar Singh Nihang.

This individual, though clearly being caught out by Nihang Niddar Singh the first time every time (photographic evidence of this is available) would then go on to tap Niddar Singh afterwards – and claim equality!

If there is photographic evidence then why not publish it on the same page where he insults his worthy opponent.

Breakdown of Nidar vs Uptej by Mehtab Singh (originally posted on SikhSangat)

A fighter is as good as his LAST performance “A quote used by many fighters, trainers and coaches around the whole martial arts world. To be a true warrior and martial artist one must continually push and challenge oneself, fighting and competing at every opportunity.

Niddar ‘the Sanatan Hindu master’ who has recently shot to mediocre fame through his ‘last warrior’propaganda in the western media is an interesting character. But what makes his tale more remarkable is his mysterious past and lack of actual combat or proof of authentic combat and real competition. Apart from the numerous training videos of him displaying beautiful and intricate techniques on students attacking him half-heartedly the only video of this last warrior niddar in action is a Gatka fight against Uptej Singh of the Akand Kirtani Jatha.

Here is a breakdown of the fight and a link to the actual video where you can see the action and judge the last warriors skills for your selves.

Nidar’s classes officially over at Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara, Wolverhampton

Nidar has been holding his Martial Arts classes at Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara in Wolverhampton (his home town) for over ten years. Once the Managing committee realised the true nature of Nidar’s philosophy they immediately took action and discontinued his classes.

A letter was presented to  Nidar and his students.

We would like to congratulate and thank Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara for maintaining the sanctity of the Gurdwara and protecting the sangat from any controversial discourses. We would also like to congratulate them on a fantastic exhibition that they have setup in their langar hall and would urge everyone to visit the Gurdwara and view this masterpiece.

Bhai Nand Lal – quotes

Bhai Nand Lal Goya (1633-1713) was a great scholar of Persian, he was one of the fifty-two poets in the court of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He was born in a thriving town called Ghazni in Afghanistan in 1633 and was thus 23 years older than Guru Ji.
Bhai Nand Lal arrived in Anandpur Sahib on Baisakhi day of 1682 and received Guru Gobind Singh Sahib’s blessing. Upon seeing the Guru for the first time his soul was so profoundly affected that he put it down in poetry :

“O prince of heaven, king of all that is beautiful, pray do not come more beautiful.
I have no more strength left in me, Allured, charmed and fascinated by thee, I sacrifice unto thee. Glory Glory O beloved.
From the beautiful bow of your eyebrows, you shot the arrow of your glance, the arrow of love is through my heart , there is no cure, no remedy.”

He spent his days with Guru in a mystical contemplation and composed poetry in which, his spiritual experience, is the pre-eminent element. Some interesting quotes from someone who did sangat with Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Idol worship, Brahmin rituals, wearing the dhoti and leaving the head bare are duties that were required during past yugas [not during the present]. During Kalyug the proper duty to observe is that which binds the disciples to the Guru. Each Yuga has its own Veda. For the Kalyug it is the Atharva Veda. According to the Atharva Veda he who lives in Kalyug and obeys The Word of the Guru shall find rich fulfillment whereas he who does not obey it will sink [in the Ocean of Existence].

Freedom from the cycle of death and rebirths is not obtained by reading the Shastras, the Vedas or the Puranas. The ladder which leads to freedom is the Divine Name. He who reads, hears or repeats the Divine Name shall be freed from the transmigratory round of births and deaths. Without the Guru there can be no release, though one searches the Vedas and the Puranas. Hear O’ Khalsa as Gobind Singh declares: In Kalyug the Divine Name is supreme.

Bhai Nand Lal, Sakhi Rehit Ki

Wearing the sacred thread is a Hindu custom [not a Khalsa one]. The emblem that has been conferred on the Khalsa will make a Sikh easily recognizable amidst a hundred thousand Hindus and a hundred thousand Muslims. How can he conceal himself when he wears a turban on his head and has a fine flowing beard and an uncut kes?
Bhai Nand Lal, Sakhi Rehit Ki

Those lost in You need no cup for intoxication,
For those thirsting for Your sight, the sweetness of wine has no relish.
Bhai Nand Lal

NIdar’s Hadh Thor challenge?

NIdar can you please answer each question about your famous Hadh Thor Challenge?

  • Where would this challenge take place?
  • How would someone accept the challenge?
  • How many people have challenged him so far?
  • Have any people been turned away from the challenge?
  • what are the rules?
  • Is this weapon combat or hand to hand combat?
  • What are the parameters of the challenge? who is considered a winner?
  • Do we need to create and legal contract to prevent the losing party taking legal action?
  • Can we film the challenge?
  • If Nidar is defeated or fails to fight does he concede his position as gurdev?
  • Why is Nidar afraid to fight hand to hand?
  • It says on your website that hand to hand may result in desecration of hair but weapons based challenges can also result in desecration of hair and life? (which makes no sense)
  • If we bring multiple challengers will your Gurdev challenge them one after another or need a rest
  • If a challenger defeats Nidar and takes over the akhara he obviously gets possession of all akharas weapons because they will be the new Gurdev?

answer each one and please, take your time, but make sure you answer each question

University Sikh Societies joint statement about Nidar in 2004

Below you will see that Nidar is no stranger to controversy, in 2004 he cleverly mis-used Sikhs society names to hold seminars in London universities as part of a lecture series. Please read the joint statement from the Sikh Societies below once they realised the nature of Nidars seminars.

Sikh Societies Joint Statement on ‘Traditional to modern British Raj Sikhism’ Lecture Series and ‘Snatan Sikhs’

28 November 2004

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa!
Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

In recent weeks the Institute of Sikh Martial Heritage have organised a four-lecture series entitled ‘Traditional to modern British Raj Sikhism’ to take place at a number of London universities. The sole speaker for the lecture series is Mr Niddar Singh.

Promotional material for this event which has been circulated electronically and via flyers has stated that the lecture series is supported by a number of London-based Sikh Societies.

Members of our London-based Sikh Society committees were approached by associates of Mr Niddar Singh to book venues on their behalf, but without specifying the theme or nature of the lectures. It was only after the above mentioned promotional literature was circulated that we became aware of the precise nature of these events.

We would like to make clear to all concerned that contrary to the false advertisement and rumours that are being circulated; we did not and will not support this lecture series, the Institute of Sikh Martial Heritage or Mr Niddar Singh.

We have informed the relevant Student Unions that the below listed London-based Sikh Societies do not wish to be associated with this lecture series or the organisers, and that all venues booked under their Society in relation to this lecture series be cancelled immediately.

In addition to the London-based Sikh Societies, we would like to categorically state that the Societies listed below do not wish to associate themselves with the Institute of Sikh Martial He

ritage, Mr Niddar Singh or any other group promoting him.

With respect to misrepresenting the Sikh Societies, we demand that the Institute of Sikh Martial Heritage issue a written apology to all Sikh Societies concerned.

On Behalf of the following Sikh Societies,

  • Kings College London Sikh Society
  • University College London Sikh Society
  • London School of Economics Sikh Society
  • Imperial College London Sikh Society

Khalsa is Unique and timeless, not Hindu-Sanatan.

Many Sanatanists like to claim that the Khalsa is an offshoot, a continuation or extension of the Hindu Sanatan Dharam that was prevalent before it. Sanatanists are quick to reference paintings and pictures or mentions of devtey and misconstrue it as affiliation, worship or propagation. A closer look is advised.

Guru Gobind Singh ji explained the creation of the Khalsa in the Bachittar Natak as a new beginning, one that was devoid of the ego, confusion and failure of Sanatan dharams that came before it.

In Bachittar Natak Guru Gobind Singh Ji narrates his conversation with God. Within this conversation Vaheguru describes the utter failure of Sanatan dharam that had come to be in the world before the Khalsa.

When I created the world in the beginning, I created the ignominious and dreadful Demons.

Who became mad with power and abandoned the worship of Supreme Purusha.6.

I destroyed them in no time and created gods in their place.

They were also absorbed in the worship of power and called themselves Ominipotent.7.

Mahadeo (Shiva) was called Achyuta (blotless), Vishnu considered himself the Supreme.

Brahma called himself Para Brahman, none could comprehend the Lord.8.

Then I created eight Sakshis in order to give evidence of my Entity.

But they considered themselves all in all and asked the people to worship them.9.

Those who did not comprehend the Lord, they were considered as Ishvara.

Several people worshipped the sun and the moon and several others worshipped Fire and Air.10.

Several them considered God as stone and several others bathed considering the Lord was of Water.

Considering Dharmaraja as the Supreme representative of Dharma, several bore fear of him in their actions. 11.

All those whom God established for the revelation of His Supremacy, they themselves were called Supreme.

They forgot the Lord in their race for supremacy. 12

(Bachittar Natak, Sri Dasam Granth)

So Vaheguru thus sent Guru Gobind Singh ji to start a new path as all that had come before had failed to propagate the truth. Guru Gobind Singh ji replied…

I stood up with folded hands and bowing down my head, I said:

The path (Panth) shall prevail only in the world, with THY ASSISTANCE.”30.

So Guru Gobind Singh ji was born as the tenth form of Guru Nanak to change the history of the World and its people forever. Whereas people before were worshipping Devtey(Angels) or Rakhsas(Demons), or promoting their own worship, the Guru sought to change peoples ways

Thou hast meditated on millions of Krishnas, Vishnus, Ramas and Rahims.

Thou hast recited the name of Brahma and established Shivalingam, even then none could save thee.

Thou hast observed millions of austerities for millions of days, but thou couldst not be recompensed even for the value of a cowrie.

The Mantra recited for fulfillment of worldly desires doth not even bring the least gain and none of such Mantras can save from the blow of KAL.97.

Why doth thou indulge in false austerities, because they will not bring in gain of even one cowrie.

The cannot save themselves form the blow (of KAL), how can they protect thee?

He explains that if those higher beings or avatars could not save themselves from death then how they could save you.

Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu and Consort of Sachi (Indra) would ultimately fall in the noose of death.
(41, Sri Dasam Granth,)

Here guru Gobind Singh Ji talks of the Sanatan texts that were most revered at the time. He clearly encourages us to abandon the old sanatan texts.

None could comprehend the Lord, but instead became mad with `I-ness`.16.

Nobody recognized the Supreme Essence, but was entangled within himself.

All the great rishis (sages), who were then created, produced their own Smritis.17.

All those who became followers of these smritis, they abandoned the path of the Lord.

Those who devoted themselves to the Feet of the Lord, they did not adopt the path of the Smritis.18.

Brahma composed all the four Vedas, all the people followed the injunctions contained in them.

Those who were devoted to the Feet of the Lord, they abandoned the Vedas.19.

Those who abandoned the path of the Vedas and Katebs, they became the devotees of the Lord.
(Bachittar Natak, Dasam granth)

Guru Gobind Singh ji further makes his beleifs clear by making a very powerful statement in Bachittar Natak.

I say only that which the Lord hath said, I do not yield to anyone else.

I do not feel pleased with any particular costume, I sow the seed of God‘s Name.34.

I do not worship stones, nor I have any liking for a particular guise.

I sing infinite Names (of the Lord), and meet the Supreme Purusha.35.

I do not wear matted hair on my head, nor do I put rings in my ears.

I do not pay attention to anyone else, all my actions are at the bidding of the Lord.36.

I recite only the Name of the Lord, which is useful at all places.

I do not meditate on anyone else, nor do I seek assistance from any other quarter.37.

I recite infinite Names and attain the Supreme light.

(Guru Gobind Singh ji, 137 — Sri Dasam Granth)

Why would Guru Gobind Singh ji make these statements if he was not trying to differentiate the Khalsa from others who came before and the traditions and actions of the Sanatan people who came before them?

There is no doubt that Guru Gobind Singh ji came to start a new panth that was concerned with justice and the propagation of the timeless Lord, who was not subject to birth or death.

In due time Brahma appeared in physical form; in due time Shiva incarnated;

In due time Vishnu manifested himself; all this is the play of the Temporal Lord.383.

The Temporal Lord, who created Shiva, the Yogi; who created Brahma, the Master of the Vedas;

The Temporal Lord who fashioned the entire world; I salute the same Lord.384.

The Temporal Lord, who created the whole world; who created gods, demons and yakshas;

He is the only one form the beginning to the end; I consider Him only my Guru.385.

(Kabeyo Bach Benti Chaupai, 2259, Sri Dasam Granth,)

The Guru references the devtey in his literature for the purposes of historical education, and examples of the past to be learnt from, whereas the Sanatanists mistranslate this as a way of propagating the same old Sanatan ways the Guru came to break us from.
